adding something small can make a big difference
People are beginning to realize that the ceiling is your fifth wall and that it doesn’t have to be white. Another thing that I love is that when adding an element of design to any room it doesn’t always have to be something large.
Marti of Fauxscapes in Baton Rouge Louisiana, whom I have worked very closely with over the last year, was going to be doing a modello for one of her previous clients.
The cabinets in the living room that surrounded the fireplace,
the front entrance ceiling,
the powder room, which the client wanted a definite statement made, had been done previously.
I’ve got to tell you, this was the hardest room and finish to photograph. Just doesn’t do it justice but that is the case most of the time.
Marti had already completed the walls
(which was American Clay, sealed and then a glaze applied)
and the ceiling finish
(which was a metallic finish with an oil glaze)
in the main part of the room next to the powder room before the modello was to be applied.
This was just the right application of a modello, from Melanie Royals, to bring all three rooms together.
