i love red-how about you

This is another job that I worked on with Marti Carroll of Fauxscapes last year.

This was one of Marti’s previous clients, who is also an interior designer. She had total trust in Marti’s ability to create a unique look for her home.

Do you know how exciting it is when your client trust you and says just do it? You can’t get much better than that, and when you are done and they love it, that is the ultimate.

So, it was time to get to work. We took a finish that I had created and revamped it to fit the concept of the look we were looking for. This is the result of a great collaborated effort.

Most of the time we will take sample swatches and pictures of the clients decor to create a unique finish. This job, we were able to do the finishes and the client took the sample board that was created to chose her curtains and decor. That is the reason for the name Diversion.

Diversion: the act of turning aside from a course.

Once we completed the sample board, we felt that the ceiling needed something other than just paint  and the client wanted a custom finish on the trim and columns.  The ceiling was completed with gold leaf and then sealed with an amber polyurethane topcoat.

Marti applied a fantasy marble to the columns and the capitols were done in a gold finish with a darkened red glaze.
